The Luke Adams Foundation would like to formally announce the following new sponsors that have come together as partners for the introduction and delivery of the Roebourne Girls FX Group:
- National Lifestyle Villages
- Pindan Contracting
- Australian Premium Iron – West Pilbara Iron Ore Project
- Pilbara Cities
The Roebourne Girls FX Group will be launched on Wednesday 9th May, at 3pm by Hon Brendon Grylls MLA at the Pam Buchanan Centre in Karratha.
The Roebourne Girls FX Group is a leadership program based in Roebourne that utilises the attraction of the arts; song, dance and drama, as a platform to address issues of self-esteem, healthy relationships, sexual and women’s health, drug and alcohol abuse, healthy lifestyles and future direction. The program is intended to develop tomorrow’s role models and build strong, independent women with a ‘voice’ in the community.
The Roebourne Girls FX Group helps the girls to develop the skills required to build empowerment and leadership of young women with the help of female adult allies. This is particularly important in the context of reducing anti-social behaviour and violence within our communities – many problem behaviors have underlying causes linked to social and personal skills.
National Lifestyle Villages, Pindan Contracting, API West Pilbara Iron Ore Project and Pilbara Cities have come together to partner The Luke Adams Foundation through financial and in-kind support to deliver this initiative for the next three years.
Chief Executive Officer of the NLV Group Mike Hollet says “NLV has a 12 year history of building sustainable lifestyle focussed communities and it is interesting that consistently security in living our everyday lives is one of the key drivers for people to consider living in a National Lifestyle Villages community. Unfortunately anti-social behaviour and violence touches almost everyone’s life and NLV Group is delighted to be a major sponsor of The Luke Adams Foundation in its outreach programs focussing on educating and transforming young people’s lives.”
Business Development Manager Jack Walsh said he supports the programs The Luke Adams Foundation are developing “Our future leaders and health of our society demand that we provide a safe and nurturing environment for our children. Pindan are delighted to support The Luke Adams Foundation and the excellent work with behavioural education they provide for today’s youth.”
“API West Pilbara Iron Ore Project is thrilled to support such an outstanding community initiative”, API West Pilbara Iron Ore Project Community Relations Manager, Nicole Stein said. “The Roebourne Girls FX Group program has already changed the lives of countless young women living in Roebourne and Wickham effecting positive change across the community, we are looking forward to celebrating the future successes of the Roebourne Girls FX Group and The Luke Adams Foundation.”
Lisa Taylor, the Community Projects and Engagement Manager from Pilbara Cities says “Pilbara Cities is working to transform the cities and towns in the region into vibrant, modern communities where people want to live and work. We are pleased to be involved in such a great event that is really about expanding the opportunities that are available for young people in our region, and in this case particularly for these young women from Roebourne.”
Shire of Roebourne President, and program founder Fiona White-Hartig says “The launch of the Roebourne Girls FX program in 2012 through The Luke Adams Foundation provides an amazing opportunity for girls aged 12-17 years in the Shire of Roebourne. I am particularly proud that Miss Finola Woodley, a founding member of the group, is to be employed by the Foundation to deliver these programs to the next generation of young women in our community.
